Better Books Retreat 2017

Last weekend I attended the Better Books Retreat in Menlo Park. It was three full days of learning, editing, critiquing and making new friends. The faculty was superb. Stephen Fraser spoke eloquently about making words sing. Emma Dryden was my group leader. The edits to my book were painful, yet necessary. I am in the process of tightening the narrative and removing filter words. My critique partners made insightful suggestions and raised questions. Tiffany Liao presented us with guidelines for writing diverse characters. And Harold Underdown streamlined the revision process. Today I am a better writer because of their generosity. Time to roll up my sleeves and get back to work. #betterbooks2017
